Nearly ten years after Skinny crawled out of a bedroom wardrobe for the first time, CINIC Games has put The Wardrobe 2 on a Kickstarter pre-launch page and posted a short reveal teaser. The Florence studio is asking fans to follow the campaign so they get pinged when funding actually opens. No goal, launch day, or ship window is attached yet.
That is the whole news beat in one skeleton-shaped package: a sequel is real, crowdfunding is the plan, and the tone is still gleefully rude. Adventure Gamers clocked the reveal on the original Steam page; KeenGamer notes the pre-launch itself surfaced around October 31, 2026.
Skinny vs. his own developers
The pitch calls it a punk and click adventure. Skinny allegedly figures out he is stuck inside a video game, then decides the rational next step is to hunt the developers who put him there. Expect inventory nonsense, pop-culture jabs, and a stated love-hate letter to classic point-and-clicks versus AAA excess. Adventure Game Hotspot currently lists the project for PC; CINIC has not published a wider platform sheet in the materials we checked.
Why the sequel took years
Creative director Francesco, who made the 2017 original, attached an unusually candid note to the announcement. He describes the first game as all-consuming, including twelve-hour days through the final year, then a stretch of depression that kept him from enjoying the reaction. Working on the sequel, he writes, brought back a joy he did not expect. He also refuses to spoil puzzles, length, or timing: nothing else is locked for public view.
That's part of the reason The Wardrobe 2 is only coming now.
Still TBA: goal, date, consoles
If you want the studio voice unfiltered, the Kickstarter page is already in full insult mode, and the teaser above is the official hello. Followers who play nice may get a tongue-in-cheek Journalist Mode joke dangled as a reward. Until the campaign goes live, the actionable step is simply to follow the project and wait for a real funding date.
