Curse of Resthaven is out now on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Toronto studio Hilltop Studios - the team behind Lil' Guardsman - and publisher Digital Bandidos position the launch as a gothic mystery wrapped around a six-day apocalyptic time loop.
What Curse of Resthaven is
You play Ambrose, the newly appointed governor of a failing island colony who arrives hunting for a missing niece, Amalia. Restoring Resthaven means haggling with merchants, upgrading local businesses, and earning the trust of townsfolk who all have something to hide. Six days later the island is wiped out - and Ambrose wakes on day one as the only person who remembers.
Time loop, interrogation, and card expeditions
That loop is the spine of the design. Each run lets you interrogate more than 25 fully voiced characters, carry permanent skill upgrades forward, and pick one of three goddess Boon Cards that trade powerful advantages for painful drawbacks. When talking fails, you leave the walls on card-based expeditions: build a deck of resources and companions, then push into eldritch wilderness that reshuffles between loops.
- Trade and haggle to revive upgradeable businesses in town.
- Interrogate 25+ fully voiced residents with shifting agendas.
- Run card-based expeditions beyond the colony walls.
- Carry skills between loops and accept Boon Cards with tradeoffs.
- Chase three timeline paths before unlocking a fourth true ending.
Why puzzle and detective fans should care
Hilltop and Digital Bandidos lean hard into a Blue Prince-meets-gothic-colony pitch - investigation and spatial mystery energy mixed with trading, town management, and deckbuilding rather than a pure point-and-click. Official materials also flag three major narrative paths plus a fourth true ending unlocked after completing all three timelines, which should interest detective and puzzle readers who like systems that reward note-taking across resets.
Platforms, price, and extras
The game is available on Steam, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Store for .99 (or local equivalent). Steam currently lists a 10% launch discount. A Gilded Edition bundling soundtracks, an art booklet, and sheet music is offered on Steam, and Digital Bandidos also announced launch bundles pairing Curse of Resthaven with The Seance of Blake Manor and The Case of the Golden Idol. Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PlayStation 4 release dates are still to be announced.
Mature-content notes on Steam warn of illustrated black-and-white violence and murder, references to suicide, war and colonial oppression, plus alcohol, substance abuse, and psychological distress. If that gothic interrogation-and-loop mix is your lane, the official launch trailer and Steam page are the cleanest places to start.
