The Wolf Among Us Remastered is out digitally today, October 29, 2026 - but not everywhere at once. Telltale's Fabletown noir returns on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox today, while the Nintendo Switch build sits on a separate clock after a mid-October delay.

That split is the first thing players need to sort. If you are on Steam, the Epic Games Store, PS5, or Xbox, the remaster is the day-one story. If you were holding for Switch, Telltale still has not named a replacement date.

What launches today, and what does not

Press materials from Telltale and PM Studios, plus Steam's listing, put the digital launch at October 29 for:

  • PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store
  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox One, playable on Xbox Series X|S through backward compatibility

Nintendo Switch is not in that day-one set. On October 16, Telltale said the Switch version needs more time and will follow later, while confirming October 29 remains intact for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Gematsu carried the fuller studio note: Switch is the franchise's first Nintendo release, and the team wants that debut to meet its own bar before shipping.

Digital launch day covers PC, PS5, and Xbox. Switch arrives later.

Noir Mode, Lost Scenes, and the remaster extras

The pitch is not a rewrite of Bigby's first case. It is the full five-episode story rebuilt with sharper lighting, character work, environments, animation, and audio, plus a stack of extras aimed at both newcomers and people who already finished Faith through Cry Wolf years ago.

Noir Mode is the headline add-on. You can flip the whole campaign into a black-and-white, classic-detective look and switch back to the remastered color presentation whenever you want. Telltale has been framing it as a way to lean harder into the murder-mystery tone without changing the branching script.

The remaster keeps the choice-driven crime story while updating how Fabletown looks and moves.

Beyond the visual pass, the definitive edition package includes five fully playable Lost Scenes, an art gallery with more than 100 images, and over an hour of behind-the-scenes developer interviews. Those bonuses are the clearest reason for veterans to reopen the case before The Wolf Among Us 2, which press materials still point toward 2027.

Price, discounts, and early review tallies

According to the October 20 Games Press launch trailer release, the remaster is priced at $24.99 USD, with a launch discount for new players and a deeper cut for digital owners of the original game. Treat storefront tags as the final word on how long those offers last in your region.

Early critic aggregates are already live. OpenCritic shows a Top Critic Average of 84 with a 100% recommend rate as of our check. Metacritic lists a Metascore of 85 based on nine critic reviews, described as Generally Favorable. Individual outlets have landed in a fairly tight band, including IGN at 8/10. These numbers can still move as more reviews post, especially on Xbox where Metacritic tallies were still thin earlier in the week.

Critics have largely treated the remaster as the best current way to play the 2013 classic.

Why the Switch delay matters for this launch

Older announcements from Gamescom still named Switch in the October 29 slate. That is outdated. The current platform map is the one Telltale restated in October and again in the late press push: PC, PS5, and Xbox today; Switch TBA; physical editions still aimed at early 2027 / Q1 2027 with details to come.

Telltale has not publicly pinned the holdup to a specific technical issue. The studio line is extra time to deliver the experience Nintendo players deserve. Until a new date lands, Switch pre-orders are an open wait, while multi-platform owners can just start on the builds that shipped.

Quick platform checklist

  • Out now (digital, Oct 29, 2026): PC (Steam, Epic), PS5, Xbox One / Series via backward compatibility
  • Delayed: Nintendo Switch - later date still unannounced
  • Physical: planned for early 2027 / Q1 2027
  • Developer / publisher on Steam: Telltale (PM Studios appears alongside Telltale in press materials)
  • Standout remaster extras: Noir Mode, five Lost Scenes, art gallery, 60+ minutes of BTS

If you want the fairy-tale murder mystery with modern presentation and a proper noir filter, today is the window - just double-check you are buying one of the platforms that actually unlocked.
