Weird Days: Dark Tales by Warm Light is already mid-run on Steam, and today the calendar flips to the stretch organizers are calling Playtest Days: November 4 through 7, 2026. If you like puzzle-adventure and mystery-horror that feels cozy until it does not, this is the window to talk with studios, not just scroll trailers.
According to the festival's Games Press briefing, those four days open discussion forums in the Dark Cocooning Events Steam Community Group so players can chat with more than 25 indie studios, ask questions, and share what they are playing. Studio posts around the fest also flag demos for individual titles during the same window; treat those as per-game, not a promise that every showcase entry has a public build.
The broader event runs November 2 to 9, 2026 under organizer Dark Cocooning. Its Dark Tales by Warm Light theme leans into mysterious, eerie, atmospheric indies: dark stories with a warm, discoverable glow rather than pure jump-scare stacks. The live Weird Days Steam festival page is the hub for featured titles this week.
The showcase already happened
Missed opening night? The November 2 trailer showcase, hosted by Emily Merritt and Kate Hunter of No Small Games, already aired and is up on YouTube. The hosts' own write-up puts the curated showcase around 70 atmospheric and dark-cozy titles.
Ten dark-cozy picks from No Small Games
For a shopping-list shortcut that stays inside the creepy-cozy lane, No Small Games posted a November 3 roundup of ten festival-adjacent picks. The blurbs below paraphrase their hosts' angles only; we have not played these builds for this article.
- Welcome to Lightford (NightInk Interactive) - 1990s PNW supernatural investigation, Emily's pick for layered small-town mystery.
- Caroline's Underworld (Dead Curious Games) - vivid limited palette walking-sim RPG with Alice-in-Wonderland energy, per Kate.
- Abashed (Supantha Paul) - emotive pixel memories from Isaac's past; Emily flagged the art-to-narrative promise.
- Hell is Other People (Miss Self Destruct) - surreal dark fantasy sold on the hook "Can you survive the horror of being yourself?"
- No Murders in Grimwick (Bee and Boo Games) - Emily's shorthand: Lynch producing a Bob's Burgers Halloween episode.
- Fruitbearer (Mangobits Studios / Aico Labs) - Suika-like roguelite deckbuilder Kate calls a Steam Deck wind-down.
- Private Psychic (Pazazz!) - hand-drawn paranormal detective agency led by Maple, who fears reading the future.
- Mourning Tide (Liquid Squid / Black Lantern Collective) - horror-meets-fishing with a minimalist, absurd streak.
- Cages: Hidden Worlds (Big Loop Studios / Snapbreak) - dark carnival escape-room puzzles and big-eyed puppet vibes.
- Olga - Episode 1 (Workbench Entertainment) - Slavic mountain village spooky-cozy adventure Kate tagged for fall vibes.
